The USS Athena celebrated its five year anniversary as a full-fledged STARFLEET Chapter by heading out to Goddard Space Center in Maryland. We originally planned for a day starting with an informative lecture, lunch, walking tour of the place, then more socializing before heading home. However, it was pouring. We enjoyed the lecture about the life cycle of stars. Unfortunately, it was dark in the room where we had the lecture, so no pictures. Afterwards, we went to plan B: head back to the CO's house and socialize there. We dispensed with the tour since many of us have been on it before.

A nice, relaxing indoor picnic. Things were starting to clear up in Northern VA.
